Fauré's "Morceau de Concours" for Solo Flute and Piano

 
 

"Morceau de concours," by Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924) is a piece for flute solo and piano. Composed as a sightreading test for the Paris Conservatoire, possibly in 1898. "Morceau de concours" was lost for nearly a century and was rediscovered in 1970. It has since become a staple in the flute recital repertoire.
