Venetian Express, for Solo Flute

In arranging “Venetian Express,” I wanted to create a short version of Briccialdi’s “Carnevale di Venezia, Op. 78” (Carnival of Venice) that could be played unaccompanied (the original requires piano accompaniment).

“Venetian Express” draws on the “Carnival of Venice” theme, a few of the variations and the coda. Approximate run time is 3’30”. I think it is an excellent teaching piece, incorporating many important flute skills (double tonguing, octaves, voicing, etc.). It could also make a nice addition to a flute recital program, or as an encore.
