2020 Hawaii Flute Festival Recap

The 4th Annual Hawaii Flute Festival, presented by the Hawaii Flute Society, was a whirlwind of activities and inspirations for the local flute community. International superstar flutist, Jasmine Choi, presented an exceptional masterclass and concert which left our audience dazzled (Great Train Race!).

In addition to the excitement of hosting Jasmine and experiencing her wonderful artistry, the members of the Hawaii Flute Society also got out into our community to promote the festival.

On January 10th, I visited the studios of Hawaii Public Radio and sat down with Louise King Lanzilotti to play some of my favorite recordings and chat about flute music.

On January 16th, a septet of flutes, alto flutes and bass flutes visited the set of Hawaii News Now to talk about the festival and play some music. We played my arrangements for flute choir of the Bach Badinerie and Rondeau from the Mozart A Major Quartet. Video is available at hawaiinewsnow.com.

Finally, on January 17th, HFS members gathered to perform in our Festival Concert. Here are a couple of videos from that concert. This was definitely a week to remember and we are all looking forward to what the future holds for this organization.
