Practice Köhler's "Doll's Waltz" With Me! (Op. 66, #2)

Ernesto Köhler’s “Doll’s Waltz” (#2 from “25 Romantic Etudes in the Modern Style”) is one of my favorite flute studies. However, the large, acrobatic leaps can be daunting. To help you to get through this challenging etude, I created a Practice Guide and Video.

In the Practice Guide, I created 11 customized exercises tailored to the “Doll’s Waltz” etude (a.k.a. “Valse de la Poupée” or “Puppen-Walzer”). These include:

  1. Chromatic Scales

  2. G Major Scale Study

  3. Arpeggio Studies

  4. First Vocalise (Appoggiatura Study)

  5. First Interval Set

  6. Second Interval Set

  7. Second Vocalise

  8. Third Interval Set

  9. Third Vocalise (Tales from the Vienna Woods)

  10. Transpositions

My goal in creating these exercises was to give you a complete practice and to isolate some of the skills necessary to play this challenging study with success.

In the Practice Video, I guide you through 8 of the exercises as well as a short practice of the actual etude.
